For Educators & Librarians

After the Zoo Closes — coming to your classroom

A seven-book picture-book series for ages 4–6, built for K–2 read-alouds and library storytimes. Each book pairs one zoo animal with one vehicle whose central problem only that animal's body can solve — a built-in invitation for "why did the giraffe fly the biplane?" classroom conversation.

Classroom resources, releasing with each book

As each of the seven books ships, the matching free educator pack drops here the same day. Every pack will include:

Read-aloud guide

Page-by-page pacing notes, suggested voices, and natural pause points for K–2 storytime.

Discussion questions

Six to eight open-ended questions per book, grouped by what kids notice, what kids wonder, and what kids would do differently.

Printable activity sheet

One-page activity per book — animal-fact matching, vehicle-parts labeling, or a draw-your-own-adventure prompt.

Standards alignment

A short ELA / Reading Literature standards crosswalk per book (K–2), plus Next Generation Science Standards tie-ins where the animal-biology angle fits.

Where the series stands

Book 1 — Pim the Sloth and the Hot-Air Balloon — is in production for a Spring 2027 release.

Books 2–7 follow across 2027, one per season. The full series shipping order, premises, and animal/vehicle pairings are on the series page.
